Even I felt the same when I started implementing the <strong>concepts of UX research<\/strong> that I learned during my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admecindia.co.in\/courses\/ui-ux-design-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>UX design training in Delhi<\/strong><\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admecindia.co.in\/staff-students\/ravi-bhadauria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Ravi sir<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I took guidance from my mentor and <strong>broke down the process into 8 steps<\/strong> and that worked well for my project.So, I decided to share the same process with you through this blog so that you also can <strong>conduct actionable research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/8-Actionable-UX-Research-Steps.jpg?resize=800%2C533&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"8 Actionable UX Research Steps\" class=\"wp-image-108370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/8-Actionable-UX-Research-Steps.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/8-Actionable-UX-Research-Steps.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/8-Actionable-UX-Research-Steps.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Before I talk about the research steps, let me first tell you that we have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.userinterviews.com\/ux-research-field-guide-module\/user-research-methods\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>different types of research methodologies in UX<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of UX Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are different types but here I\u2019m covering the two most common one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Qualitative data<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quantitative data<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll talk about both briefly below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualitative UX Data research<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In qualitative UX research, we <strong>focus on understanding the emotions, behaviors and feelings of users<\/strong> who will interact with the apps and websites we design. We don\u2019t concentrate on getting insights in numbers, instead our <strong>main goal is to gather opinions from users<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We do this in various ways like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We <strong>talk to users directly<\/strong> during interviews and survey rounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We conduct <a href=\"https:\/\/maze.co\/guides\/usability-testing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>usability testing<\/strong><\/a> to <strong>observe how people interact<\/strong> <strong>with our designs<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We <strong>follow their feedback<\/strong> in the form of comments, reviews, and surveys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This way, we can find answers to many of our questions such as <strong>what our users like the most<\/strong> and what they don\u2019t, <strong>what confuses them<\/strong>, and <strong>what they usually ignore<\/strong> while interacting with an app or website?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As mentioned earlier, interviews, survey, usability testing and <strong>focus group<\/strong> are some of the methods that you can use to <strong>measure qualitative data<\/strong>. So, now you can start it easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s talk about the next one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quantitative UX Data research<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In quantitative UX research, we <strong>rely more on numerical data gathered from users<\/strong>. We focus on patterns like how many <strong>h<\/strong><strong>ow many people clicked a button<\/strong>, how long they stayed on our app or on a particular screen, and which design performs better. There are multiple tools to collect this type of data. <strong>Google Analytics<\/strong> comes on top, we also have <strong>heatmaps<\/strong>, and <strong>surveys with rating scales<\/strong>. So, we <strong>count everything our users do<\/strong> and use these insights to make smart design decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some common methods to measure quantitative data are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Survey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A\/B testing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tree testing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Web Analytics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By reading about these types, I\u2019m sure many of you might be wondering that <strong>why does it\u2019s really important to conduct such research<\/strong> and why we can\u2019t just do a quick survey or rely on our own likes and dislikes. I had the same thoughts too but gradually I understood the importance as <strong>I went deeper into my UX design classes with Ravi sir at ADMEC Multimedia<\/strong>. Let me make it clear for you in the below section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is it important to conduct User Experience Research?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Suppose you are creating a music app but don\u2019t know where to start from. You know before you many people have started their own music app and some got successful while others failed miserably. However, you don\u2019t have any option for failure. Therefore, the first thing you should do is <strong>research about the business strategy<\/strong> of such companies that led to success as well as that led to failure. It will improve your understanding of business as well as the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly for a successful product it is <strong>important to know the insights of what the user needs<\/strong> or expect from the product and this <strong>information can only be gained by doing the thorough user experience research.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are more <strong>reasons to understand the importance of UX research<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It <strong>reduces risk<\/strong> and cost of failure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Going through this research <strong>helps us to improve user satisfaction<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This <strong>increases the probability of successful business<\/strong> in the coming future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>User research helps the designer to <strong>focus on creating a compelling design<\/strong> rather than guessing and questioning about their motive of that design.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It helps the product owners to <strong>gain competitive advantage<\/strong> among their business rivals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>User research also <strong>creates the feelings of empathy and collaboration<\/strong> across teams such as developers, designers, marketers, etc. keeping everyone focused on providing a valuable user experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to use UX research to get insights?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the main part of this blog. Now I\u2019m going to present you <strong>the 8 steps to conduct actionable UX research:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. You should <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nngroup.com\/articles\/problem-statements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>prepare problem statements<\/strong><\/a>. Here\u2019re some examples for you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understand why the user deleted the food app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discover what app user have on their phone for navigation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask if there are any new features they like in any of their apps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Choose something that <strong>fits with the stage of your design process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exploratory<\/strong> <strong>UX research<\/strong> \u2013 interviews, field studies, etc. to discover user needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Evaluative UX research<\/strong> \u2013 usability testing, surveys, etc. to access the existing design.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quantitative UX research<\/strong> \u2013 website analytics, A\/B testing, etc. to understand and measure user behavior at numerical scale.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Find relevant users<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/find-relevant-users.jpg?resize=768%2C379&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"find relevant users\" class=\"wp-image-108402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/find-relevant-users.jpg?w=768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/find-relevant-users.jpg?resize=300%2C148&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This step is highly important as users gave us their feedback then it is particularly important that we<strong> choose the right user to interview<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if we want to create Boba tea and we ask a person how to make it but that person has drunk it before then how will he\/she tell us about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hence to avoid this situation we should find relevant users to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Some <strong>interviewer takes an assistant with them<\/strong> for this purpose. It is also necessary to <strong>capture user feedback as well as their behavior<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Organize the findings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/organizing-findings.jpg?resize=768%2C379&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"organize the findings\" class=\"wp-image-108404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/organizing-findings.jpg?w=768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/organizing-findings.jpg?resize=300%2C148&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After collecting all the needed data, in this step the designer or research <strong>start using the method of cluster by organizing the data on sticky notes<\/strong> and pasting it into any hard and big area like room wall, door, or sometimes in the door of the refrigerator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Try translation of the data in insights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/transaltion-data-in-the-insights.jpg?resize=768%2C379&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"transaltion data in the insights\" class=\"wp-image-108407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/transaltion-data-in-the-insights.jpg?w=768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.admecindia.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/transaltion-data-in-the-insights.jpg?resize=300%2C148&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You have collected all the data you wanted but now it\u2019s time to <strong>translate it into something deeper<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, \u201cUser is not liking the new feature of navigation in the app\u201d this is written on the findings, now try to find the reason to it.\u201d Users want the navigation icon to be present in upper right corner in the app not hidden inside the map feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. It offers community files, lots of assets in the form of plugins and powerful prototyping features. You can also learn it under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admecindia.co.in\/course\/figma-course-in-delhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>3 months Figma course<\/strong><\/a> at ADMEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion on Actionable UX Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To conclude this topic, I want to say that <strong>UX research does not only include gathering data<\/strong>, it also means to <strong>purify the gathered data<\/strong> into something that could help you create a compelling design for users. It is means to help users get something they want.
