Whenever you think about your favorite brand, it is a logo that comes first to your mind. The most popular brands like <strong>Apple, Starbucks, Nike, IBM, WWF, HP, <\/strong>etc. are known by their logos all around the world. These are timeless and a big source of inspiration for all young designers in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making these kinds of logos is not a simple task. It takes a lot of research, planning, and corrections from a designer. <strong>Logo designing is an art<\/strong> that requires expertise at the same time. Designers who are behind the <strong>world\u2019s most popular logos<\/strong> spent years understanding the brands and their needs. Then only they could deliver memorable, simple, and scalable logo designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contribution of various artists from the ancient to modern era presents us with the different types of logos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Popular Types of Logos Evolved with Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Wordmark<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Wordmark usually contains only the name of the brand, organization, and its services. Lettermark<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In lettermark or letterheads, we use a few initial letters from the company name. Remembering the long names of brands or organizations is hard to remember for people. Thus, designers evolved lettermark to simplify it. For example, <strong>HP<\/strong> is so easy to remember for a little kid but its actual name is Hewlett-Packard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More examples of <strong>lettermark logotype<\/strong> are: <strong>IBM<\/strong>, <strong>NASA<\/strong>, <strong>ESPN<\/strong>, <strong>CNN<\/strong>, and <strong>Microsoft<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Pictorial Marks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Brand mark or pictorial mark or logo symbol is another type in which we present a brand through an icon or graphic rather than text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example: <strong>Apple, Target, Puma, WWF<\/strong>, and <strong>Firefox<\/strong> are pictorial mark logos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Combination Mark<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Combination mark includes both text and graphics like Adidas, Burger King, Amazon, Mastercard, and Channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mascot, Emblem, <\/strong>and<strong> Abstract <\/strong>are some other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admecindia.co.in\/graphic-design\/types-of-logos-with-examples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>types of logos<\/strong><\/a> that designers use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below, we have presented a list of some of the most liked logos of all time and revealed the stories of their making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stories Behind the World\u2019s Most Iconic Logos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1 Baskin-Robbins<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Baskin Robbins is the world\u2019s most popular ice cream parlor chain started by two brothers-in-law Burton \u201cBurt\u201d Baskin and Irvine \u201cIrv\u201d Robbins. Initially, they started separate stores in different regions with the names Snowbird Ice Cream and Burton Ice Cream Shop. But in the year of 1953, they came together with the name \u201cBaskin-Robbins\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the starting years of their collaboration, they adopted the 31\u00ae as the main logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept behind using 31 was to show the variety of ice cream flavors they had for each day of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although there were many versions of the logo that were launched but the 2006 year\u2019s design became the most popular. It presented the initial letters of the name of the company as BR. At the same time, the number <strong>31 can be seen easily. <\/strong>This is the magic of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenegativespace.life\/what-is-negative-space\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">negative space<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This popular logo of Baskin Robbins with the slogan \u201c31 Flavors\u201d was designed by an advertising firm called <strong>Carson-Roberts<\/strong>. The firm was merged with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ogilvy_(agency)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Ogilvy &amp; Mather<\/a> in 1953.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. FedEx<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The first logo of <strong>FedEx<\/strong> company was introduced to us in 1971. It was designed in such a way that the full name of the company \u201c<strong>Federal Express\u201d<\/strong> was written diagonally inside a rectangle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost 2 decades ago in 1994, we saw a big change in the company logo design. The new logo presents an amazing use of negative space and combines FEDEX with a secret arrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This version was created by the genius <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artcenter.edu\/about\/alumni\/alumni-stories\/lindon-leader.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Lindon Leader<\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. NBC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NBC stands for National Broadcasting Company based in the USA. The NBC logo has stood the test of time because of its color and shape. It looks very strong as well as powerful. If you look carefully in the empty space, you\u2019ll see a peacock with a beak on the purple feather. NBC\u2019s logo has evolved a lot over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>6 colors of the NBC logo <\/strong>represent each department of the network &#8211; news, sports, entertainment, station, network, or production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would not be wrong at all to say that it is a <strong>long-running logo <\/strong>with a simplicity that attracts us all. The current NBC logo was created by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rit.edu\/universitygallery\/exhibitions\/steff-geissbuhler-memorable-and-imaginative-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Steff Geissbuhler<\/a> who is among the top graphic designers and illustrators in the world. He worked for many renowned brands and established their brand identity. Time Warner Cable, Merck, Philip Morris and Cummins Engines, Darien Library, etc. are in his work list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. I \u2764 New York<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of creating this I Love New York logo was to promote tourism in the state which was declared bankrupt in 1970. It was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miltonglaser.com\/milton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Milton Glaser<\/a> who designed this I love New York. Among the many logos created by Milton Glaser, this logo is one of the most successful in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Johnson and Johnson<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The logo of Johnson and Johnson company does not need any identity. It is because of its existence for almost 130 years. The brand come among the world\u2019s most well-known brands. Almost every person is known for its products like Baby Johnson shampoo, oil, and soap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s talk about its logo now. The next year, the company presented a new version which became quite popular that time. In 1890, there was another design launched for the Coca-Cola brand and it had a Spencerian script with complete black and white color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the version introduced in 1891 showed a red color and an improved script style. All these colors are still in the current logo and attract people of every age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This attractive logo of <strong>Coca-Cola <\/strong>was designed by <strong>Frank Mason <\/strong>and<strong> Robinson.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason for using two words in the logo was to show the two major ingredients of the drink which are coca leaves and kola nuts. Pfizer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s talk about the next logo which is of <strong>Pfizer<\/strong>. This brand is among world\u2019s largest pharmaceutical companies. Pfizer was founded in 1849 in the United States of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Story behind the Pfizer logo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the <strong>interesting things about the Pfizer\u2019s logo<\/strong> is that it was the first to use a <strong>monochrome circle <\/strong>or a <strong>wordmark<\/strong> in white capital letters on the sides of the circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Evolution of logo<\/strong> can be clearly understood with the below given graphics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1948 the logo design was changed and an <strong>elliptical logo<\/strong> was used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pfizer was written in white letters on the <strong>yellow coloured globe<\/strong>. The company also used this logo for around 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>1990 the company presented a new logo<\/strong> to the and this time the logo of Pfizer was very calm and light in appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in 2009, there was a slight change the appearance of Pfizer\u2019s logo design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then finally in 2021, after Covid 19, once again we got to see changes in the logo of Pfizer. The company introduced a unique logo to the world with a mixture of blue and white. And no doubt this latest version is very attractive. This original design for Pfizer was created by <strong>Gene Grossman.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Walmart<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Next in the list is Walmart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Walmart<\/strong> was started its operations as a discount store but today the company has achieved a different position on the world street. It has created a different identity for itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Story behind the Walmart logo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>first logo of Walmart<\/strong> was very simple. Only Walmart was written in simple blue colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1964, the company changed the logo by adopting a different font style and a hyphen in the middle of the wall and mart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1981, the logo was changed again or the Walmart logo was shown in brown colour. This time the font was very simple <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sans-serif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">San-Serif<\/a> but used a hyphen between wal and mart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then in 1992, a blue star appeared in the middle of Walmart. In 2008, a big change was seen in the <strong>Walmart logo-design<\/strong> with all the letters written in lowercase and a yellow spark icon at the end. This version for Walmart was designed by New York-based designer <strong>Lippincott<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Starbucks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are fond of drinking coffee then you might have heard the name <strong>Starbucks<\/strong> at some point in time. Starbucks has achieved the top position in the coffee shop industry. The <strong>Starbucks\u2019s logo-design<\/strong> and packaging is so iconic or popular that your eyes are drawn to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Story behind the Starbucks\u2019s Logo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be surprised to know that the name of Starbucks was not Starbucks in the beginning. It was earlier known as <strong>Pequod<\/strong>. But soon the company realized that this name was not that attractive.
